Dr. Mikaelian is a therapeutic and glaucoma certified optometrist licensed by the State Board of Optometry. Dr. Mikaelian earned his Bachelors degree in Biology with a Minor in Philosophy from California State University, Northridge and went on to pursue his Doctor of Optometry degree at Southern California College of Optometry where he graduated Cum Laude (with honors).
His past clinical externships include the Veterans Hospital in West Los Angeles and Bakersfield, Hu Hu Kam Indian Health Service Clinic in Arizona, and the Ketchum University Health Clinic in Anaheim. He has extensive training in diagnosing and managing eye diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic and hypertensive retinopathy, dry eye syndrome, retinal degeneration, as well as co-managing LASIK and cataract surgeries. He has also worked with numerous retinal and anterior segment surgeons. He takes a special interest in dry eye management and uses the Envision IPL/RF technology to treat meibomian gland dysfunction and symptoms of ocular rosacea non-invasively.
Dr. Mikaelian grew up in Glendale, CA and currently resides there with his wife. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, trying out new local restaurants, and watching the Seattle Seahawks. Dr. Mikaelian is fluent in English and Armenian.
