Dr. Murakami is a therapeutic and glaucoma certified optometrist. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in General Biology with a Minor in Psychology from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) and went on to pursue her Doctor of Optometry degree at Western University of Health Sciences. She completed clinical externships at various private practices and community health clinics, including a rotation at the San Diego Naval Hospital where she provided comprehensive eye care to active and retired military members. She has extensive training in diagnosing and managing eye diseases such as glaucoma, keratoconus, and diabetic retinopathy, as well as co-managing LASIK and cataract surgeries. She enjoys fitting patients in contact lenses and is certified in both Corneal Refractive Therapy (Ortho-K) and MiSight contact lenses for myopia control. Dr. Murakami is also certified in using the new FDA cleared InMode Envision device which provides non-invasive dry eye treatment in the form of IPL/RF. As a dry eye sufferer herself, she is excited to be able to treat dry eye patients with the latest technology and give patients an option other than eye drops.
Dr. Murakami was born and raised in the San Gabriel Valley, having spent most of her childhood in Arcadia. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends and traveling to new destinations. Dr. Murakami speaks English, Mandarin Chinese and Spanish. She is excited to be back in her hometown and looks forward to seeing patients at the Arcadia location.
